Description
The name helichrysum originates from a Greek word helios, which means sun, and chrysos, which means gold, referring to the flowers color Helichrysum belongs to sunflower (asteraceae) family; hence the resemblance. Helichrysum oil is also known by other names such as Immortelle and everlasting. Considered to be a very expensive and scarcely available essential oil, the shelf life of helichrysum oil compensates for its costly price as it can be stored for a very long time.
The essential oil has a distinct and intense scent. It has a rich, fruit-like odor with honey undertones. The color ranges from yellow to red with a watery viscosity. This is one of the finest oils that contain wound healing, scar-fading and anti-aging properties. This is crucial oil for your first aid kit. It fights aging symptoms, wrinkles, dark circles, skin pigmentation, and oxidative skin damage. Helichrysum oil nurtures the natural glow of the skin, support multiplication of collagen count, and improves cellular regeneration.
Helichrysum oil has cicatrisant properties which help to speed up wound healing, cuts, bruises, stretch marks and scar tissue (both current and old). It is a natural emollient; it retains the moisture of the skin and prevents the development of cracks and dehydration. This oil also heals raw chapped skin and burns.
